MEMORIAL — 2006 Blessing Ceremony

March 30, 2006, was the sixty-fourth anniversary of the forced removal of loyal Americans from their homes by the US government. More than 200 people gathered at the Nidoto Nai Yoni Memorial site on that day for a solemn blessing ceremony to consecrate the grounds. Organized by the Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council, the event included representatives from the following groups: Seattle's Japanese Baptist Church, the Bainbridge Buddhist Temple, the Islamic Center of Washington, Congregation Kol Shalom, the Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America and the Tsubaki Kannagara Jinga, and the Suquamish Tribe.
