Plans are underway for a “Virtual Pilgrimage”. In lieu of the many cancelled pilgrimages to Japanese American incarceration sites that typically take place over the spring and summer months, the Virtual Pilgrimage project is a collaborative undertaking, involving representatives from many different contingents of the Nikkei community, as well as scholars, artists, and educators committed to actively memorializing the history of Japanese incarceration during World War II.
The Virtual Pilgrimage will take place over nine weeks, beginning with an Opening Ceremony on June 13, 2020, and culminating in a Closing Ceremony on August 16, 2020. It will be hosted on the Japanese American Memorial Pilgrimages website. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
