On January 13, 1963 the Bainbridge Island Japanese community said thank you to Milly and Walt at a dinner in their honor. Yoshiaki Amatatsu spoke in Japanese. The Woodwards, he said, “at possible personal sacrifice, stood up in our behalf, which contributed in enabling our return.”
