Mud from Rain and Melting Snow

December 10, 1942. It was difficult to keep the barracks clean when the ground outside was so muddy. Traditional Japanese geta, or raised wooden platform shoes, were sometimes used to try to keep feet dry. Wooden planks were also set on the ground to serve as walkways. (WRA photo.
