BIJAEMA Departure Deck Interpretive Committee

The inaugural meeting of the BIJAEMA Departure Deck Interpretive Committee will be held at the Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1:30. This meeting will feature an introduction by Carol Reitz, and then a presentation/discussion by Johnpaul Jones, sharing with you some history of the Memorial development up to now, and his thoughts/vision pertaining to interpretation of the Exclusion experience as it might be applied to the Departure Deck. There will be time for further discussion, and for planning how this committee is to get its work done. The twin goals will be to keep meetings to a minimum, and to have an Interpretive Plan for the Departure Deck by the end of 2020. Plan on about 1 ½ hours.

Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial

The Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial is an outdoor exhibit commemorating the internment of Japanese Americans from Bainbridge Island in the state of Washington. The memorial is a joint effort of the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial Assn, Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community, Bainbridge Island Historical Museum, and Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District. It is a unit of the Minidoka National Historic Site in Idaho.
