As summer comes to an end, we are looking ahead to the fall, and to Densho’s annual virtual fundraiser on October 5th.
This year, the theme is “Our Voices Will Not Be Silenced,” and will feature keynote speaker Maggie Tokuda-Hall, author of Love in the Library. Maggie bravely stood up against Scholastic Inc. earlier this year when they attempted to censor her use of terms like “racism” in an author’s note about her grandparents’ incarceration experience. In addition, the program will include a live musical performance by Tomo Nakayama, a poetry reading by traci kato-kiriyama, and will be hosted by Erin Shigaki and Brady Wakayama.
