January 31, 2022 at 10:30 pmMatsue was an absolutely amazing gift to this world. Truly gorgeous. Such strength, joyfulness, and the original role model for fitness. She had style and her smile and sharp wit will stay with me forever. My condolences to the Nishimori Watanabe family, relatives and friends. My gratitude and heart to you Matsu!

March 28, 2022 at 1:10 pmThank you for your kind words. My mom was a role model for many, including her kids. As we look to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the evacuation from Bainbridge, she has shared her experience with many of us who can now put some context around those difficult times. At the gravesite ceremony, several of my cousin’s kids told me that their grandmother (one of Matsue’s older sisters) would never talk about camp, but my mom would share with them her experiences. These were very valuable to them to help them understand what some of their family went through.
