Please come tour the Art of Sakai on Wednesday, March 30 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sonoji Sakai Intermediate School (9343 Sportsman Club Rd. N.E.) displays meaningful and beautiful art in remembrance of Bainbridge Island Japanese American WW II experience. Much of it is created by local artists, such as Remembering Executive Order 9066 by MJ Linford, Family Circle of Stones by Molly Greist, The 7-Ups by Tammy Fujihara. The school also displays artifacts donated by the Sakai family, such as a family kimono and an abacus used by Sonoji Sakai. A beautiful interior Japanese garden was conceived by Junkoh Harui.
Sakai Principal Drew Crandall and Sakai art docents will welcome you on a self-guided tour.
